What should I look for when using an electric stovetop?

When using an electric hob, it is vital to improve the efficiency and safety of your cooking. The following are some suggestions for before, during and after using an electric cooktop.

Before use.

  1. Check the electrical outlet: Before connecting to the power supply, make sure that the voltage at the electrical outlet matches the voltage labeled on the hotplate.
  2. Safe Placement: Make sure your electric hob is placed on a stable flat surface and away from flammable objects.
  3. CLEAN EQUIPMENT: Ensure that the surface of the hob and the grill plate are clean and free from residual food debris or other items that could start a fire.

In Use.

  1. Beware of heat sources: The surface of an electric cooktop can become very hot when heated. Avoid direct contact with the hot surface of the cooktop.
  2. CAUTION WITH ELECTRICAL CABLE: Make sure the power cord is not located in a hot area or in an area where it could be damaged. Do not touch the power switch with spilled liquids or wet hands.
  3. Observe the appliance: Do not leave the kitchen while the appliance is operating. Observe the operation of the appliance continuously so that problems can be dealt with immediately if they occur.

AFTER USE.

  1. Disconnect the power: Do not clean or service the appliance until it has cooled down completely and make sure that the appliance is disconnected from the power supply when it is finished being used.
  2. CLEAN THE EQUIPMENT: After the equipment has cooled down, use a cleaning cloth to remove surface stains and scum; if there is stubborn grease and grime, use an appropriate cleaning agent.
  3. Storing the equipment: When not in use, store the equipment in a dry, ventilated place and keep it away from dust and foreign objects.
